Vice President Boediono said the sooner the Bank Century case was settled , the better so that it would not create prejudices in society.

“I wish the law enforcers will not just wait. They need not wait for the result of the House inquiry . With or without the House inquiry , the legal process must take place so that the case can be immediately made clear and no prejudices will arise. The quicker it is settled, the better,” he said in a speech at the opening of a national conference on corruption eradication.

The conference is an annual event organized by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and this year`s theme is on efforts to prevent corruption in government procurements.

Boediono said the legal process on those allegedly committing crimes in the case of Bank Century bailout must be done so that the case would be clear and prejudices would not emerge.

“I support the immediate settlement of the case so that no room is available for prejudices to spread,” he said.

He admitted that he had been the center of media coverage lately in connection with the case. “I have never become the center of media coverage so far. So this is new,” he said.

He admitted the mandate given to him was the mandate from God and the position he held was a mandate.

He reminded that the theme of the SBY-(Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono Boediono campaign in the presidential race last July was clean government and therefore all had to be clean.

“If we wish to make the government clean all have to be ready to be monitored, supervised transparently. All must be supervised by the community,” he said.

On the occasion Vice President Boediono reaffirmed that the government would support all law enforcement officials to improve their role.

“The government`s commitment will be their partner, is to support all law enforcement institutions,” he said.
